Furnishing your home on a budget

Furnishing your home needn’t cost a fortune.
Local re-use and recycle furniture stores often stock second hand or end of line furniture which is more affordable than going to high street retailers.

Auction sites such as eBay are great for finding cheap household goods in your local area. Goods found on there can be new or used and are sold by businesses and local people in your community. Online marketplaces such as Facebook are also popular for finding new or second-hand furniture and soft furnishing for your home. You can search for those in your area.

Freecycle is a non-profit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Membership is free and all items posted must be for free too. Browse Freecycle.

We have some great tips on how to give your old furniture a facelift by upcycling. You can make something old look like a new and unique piece of furniture without spending a lot of money.
