Our Equality and Diversity Pledge

Ahead of National Inclusion Week (24th – 30th September), our Chief Executive Steve Close and Chair of the Board Dave Procter have signed an Equality and Diversity (E&D) pledge.

The pledge is the latest demonstration of our commitment to equality and diversity after setting up an E&D steering group, appointing Tahir Idris as E&D Manager and Michelle Park as board champion, and publishing a fresh E&D policy and diversity guide for staff and contractors.

We are also launching a Diversity Grand Fund during National Inclusion Week. Community groups will be invited to bid for up to £1000 each to fund events such as Pride and Mela celebrations and other events which celebrate or promote diversity.

Michelle said: “We are committed to embracing diversity and promoting equality of opportunity with our residents, staff and stakeholders. By valuing and respecting the contributions of everybody in the diverse communities in which we operate, we aim to foster a culture of mutual respect that enables people to thrive and realise their full potential.”

Tahir added: “As both a provider of homes and a major employer, we recognise we have a moral and legal responsibility to promote equality and diversity in relation to our staff, customers and partners. We recognise that our customers and employees come from diverse backgrounds and have a diverse range of needs. We are proud to celebrate that diversity and will ensure that our pledge, and the values it represents, is delivered upon.”
