Together Housing Group mark International Day of Older Persons with supported housing event

Older people in Calderdale were invited to find out more about supported housing in the borough at an event at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on International Day of Older Persons.

Representatives from Together Housing Group, which owns and manages Mytholm Court and Mytholm Meadows in Hebden Bridge, attended the event as part of a week-long series of activity organised by Staying Well and Hebden Bridge Community Association for Dementia Friendly Communities Week.

Sue Lewis, Head of Supported Housing for Together Housing Group, which own 1,800 units of supported housing for older and vulnerable people across Yorkshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire, said: “International Day of Older Persons is a chance to celebrate our services which help older people to remain living independently at home with the care and support needed to manage. It is also great to celebrate the valuable contribution that many people continue to make to society as they become older, which is often not realised or recognised.

“Our support services, including our supported housing schemes, such as Mytholm Court and Mytholm Meadows, mean that as people get older, they are able to access a suitable home with the help needed to continue leading as healthy and fulfilling lives as possible within their local community. These are hugely important to good wellbeing and a good old age.”
