Students get hooked on theme park enterprise project

A communications and marketing expert from Together Housing paid a visit to Park Lane Academy, Siddal, to get the Year 7s hooked on an exciting Enterprise Project. Their task was to design a theme park with a £10 million pound budget.

The Year 7s at Park Lane came together in an assembly in order to learn everything about the task at hand. The children have five weeks to complete their theme park before they will present to the rest of the year group and to a panel of judges.

Daniel Klemm, Head of Policy and Communications at Together Housing, said: “It was great going into the school and meeting the budding young entrepreneurs.

“Together Housing are committed to working within our communities and I was delighted to have this opportunity to help students with how to market their theme park.”

The teachers that will be aiding the young students said that they are going to enjoy expanding the minds of the children with how to manage money and thinking about planning. They added that this will be a healthy challenge and a healthy competition between the different forms.

Michelle Hogan, Head of PSHCE and Careers at Park Lane, described the enterprise project as “An insight into the children’s minds and how the teachers can develop upon that in the future.

“This a chance for all of the students to come together and work with people that they usually wouldn’t work with.”
