Customer Services Advisor scoops Community Champion Award

One of our Customer Services Advisors has won the Supporters Direct Community Champion Award at the Betfred Championship and League 1 Awards.

Ben Moorhouse, 35, from Halifax, scooped the award for his commitment to the Steve Prescott Foundation.

Over the last four years, Ben has raised £11,300 for the charity, which was established in honour of international rugby league player Steve Prescott who died of stomach cancer, aged 39, in November 2013.

He has raised the money by taking on increasingly difficult Extreme Challenge Walks. Most recently, he walked the whole of Rhodes in less than 48 hours, a feat which had never been done before. He completed the mammoth 150 mile trek - the equivalent of six marathons - in temperatures of up to 50C.

Ben said: “I’m a big rugby league fan and although I never had the pleasure of meeting Steve, I followed his journey and am keen to continue his legacy.”

Nicola Hudson, Supporters Direct Network Manager, said: “A lifelong Bradford Bulls fan, Ben is the ideal role model for many people who are going through hard times.

“Selfless, dedicated and humble were some of the reoccurring words from the overwhelming amount of nominations we received for Ben from all over the Rugby League family.

“Ben is a true unsung hero who deserves a little something for what he has done for so many people and we are proud to name him the SD Rugby League Community Champion for 2018.”
