Gas Safety Check
Gas Safety Check
As your Landlord, we have a legal duty to carry out a gas safety check to your home within 12 months of the last service.
It’s an essential duty to do this for your safety, and that of your family and neighbours and to ensure your gas service is working efficiently to help keep costs down.
That’s why it’s vital that you let our gas technicians get access to your property to carry out the gas safety check at the appointment time made for you.
Remember, if you are unable to keep your appointment it is very important that you tell us as soon as possible so that we can make an alternative appointment with you, providing it is still within 12 months of your last safety check.
It is also very important that we have your up to date contact details, and is vital that you tell us if you have changed your mobile number or email address.
When our Gas Technician visits your home to carry out your gas safety check or to carry out any work involving gas, it is important that our Technicians work safely.
In the interest of the Technician’s Health and Safety, we would ask you not to smoke for the short time our Gas Technician is in your home carrying out this work.
The gas safety check should take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
If you do not allow us access to carry out the gas safety check it can result in legal action being taken against you and in extreme circumstances could lead to eviction.
You could also be ordered by the Courts to pay a fine of at least £700. We will however always try to avoid this course of action wherever possible by working with you to ensure we are able to carry out a safety check within the 12 months.
We very much appreciate your continued support and co-operation in ensuring that we keep you, your family and your home a safe place to live in as gases given off by appliances that are not serviced, can be dangerous and in some cases fatal.
