Clement Court's Great Get Together

Clement Court's Great Get Together

Residents from a Together Housing extra care scheme recently took part in an intergenerational event which brought different generations together as part of The Great Get Together.

The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16th June 2016. The Great Get Together aims to bring communities together and celebrate all that unites us. Jo’s family and friends came up with the initiative which has been supported by more than one hundred organisations.

Residents from Clement Court in Calderdale were invited to the Viaduct Theatre by pupils from Ash Green School who performed the play Oliver Twist for them.

The event was an opportunity for Together Housing residents and pupils from the local school to celebrate Jo Cox and bring their communities together. Residents enjoyed the show, tapping their feet and singing along to the music. One resident, who recently turned 99, said “it took me back to my youth.”

Paula Lord, Extra Care Scheme Manager, said: “We are so thankful to all of the staff and children, who made our tenants feel very special – they were treat like royalty. They returned to Clement Court still singing and were very impressed by the professionalism shown by the children.

“We would like to thank the school for inviting us to their show, and we will continue to build on that relationship in order to hold future events for our tenants and the students.”
