Did you purchase your Right to Buy house as a leaseholder?

Many of our homeowners purchased their homes through the Right to Buy process when tenants of the Local Authority. Some Authorities chose to sell houses as Leasehold and retained a Ground Rent.

(This does not apply to owners of flats).

These leases are reducing in years and many of you find it difficult to sell on or remortgage in many cases. If you are interested in purchasing the freehold of your home from Together Housing we will consider this request on an informal basis.

This will require a premium to be paid to Together Housing based on a valuation of the remaining life of the lease, a reasonable administration fee and our solicitor’s fees in dealing with the legal transaction and Land Registry requirements. Once this is completed you will own your home as a Freeholder with no Ground Rent obligations and the title will be yours to sell on and mortgage much easier.

If you are interested in this and need any more details, please contact the Home Ownership Team in the first instance so we can check your lease and confirm you are eligible to purchase the freehold. Our Sales team will then assist in the process, agree the Premium and costs with you and instruct solicitors to deal with the matter.
