New home offers new life to Thurcroft tenants

Tenants Samantha Cadman and her partner Luke Chapman have been able to start their new life together thanks to our new housing development in Rotherham.

The happy couple celebrated the new housing development on Zamor Crescent with representatives from Together Housing, Rotherham Council and the developer Strategic Team Group.

Delighted with her new home, Samantha said; “We were over-crowded where we were living and had to find somewhere as we had our baby on the way. We didn’t expect to get a brand new home. It’s really spacious and nice. We love it!”

With Luke adding; “It’s a quiet, friendly area. We’re close to play groups and shops and to Sam’s mum. It’s a really good start for us.”

49 family homes have been built in Thurcroft, to meet local demand for good quality, energy efficient affordable housing, with priority going to local residents who were in most housing need.

Keith McFarlane, Head of Project Development for Together Housing Group, said: “We’re delighted Samantha and Luke with their new baby have been able to move into one of the new homes on Zamor Crescent.

“Together Housing has worked with Rotherham Council to deliver these new family homes to meet the growing demand for affordable homes for rent.”

Rotherham Council, Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Dominic Beck, said: “We are passionate about building more homes in Rotherham as part of our ambitious plans to transform the borough, making it a destination where more people want to live, work, thrive and spend their leisure time.

“One of our key commitments is to ensure we have enough new affordable homes for families to live in and I am glad to see this site coming together so well.”

Rotherham Council, Together Housing, Strategic Team Group and Thurcroft Parish Council have worked in partnership throughout this development, with funding from Homes England.
