Together Housing pay tribute to community stalwart

Together Housing is truly saddened to hear the news that Jim Smart , from Colne,  has passed away.

Jim worked tirelessly to manage North Valley Community Centre on behalf of Together Housing, creating a ‘model’ community centre which thrived as a hub of community activity including youth clubs, luncheon clubs for the elderly and a number of community days over the years.

Jim lost his battle with a short illness on Thursday 29th November 2018. He was truly passionate about helping those around him and became a trusted member of the community. Jim was also heavily involved with Together Housing and continuously tried to help improve the lives of residents across the Group. He built strong relationships with staff and colleagues and will be truly missed by all those who knew him.

Ian Clark, Director of Strategy and Communications, said he had known and worked with Jim for many years: “He was a man who genuinely cared about others and dedicated his life to improving the community that he lived in.

“Everyone’s thoughts are with his wife, Brenda, who always worked alongside him.  I have no doubt that Brenda will continue the legacy that has been left by Jim.”
