Time to Talk Day 2019

Time to Talk Day 2019

This year’s ‘Time to Talk’ day is all about coming together to talk about mental health and what better way to do that than over a pizza?

‘Time to Talk’ day has been set up by the social movement Time to Change, who are working to address  the way society thinks and acts when it comes to mental health problems.

This Thursday we’re encouraging our tenants and staff to come together and have a conversation about mental health and Newground is paving the way by holding a ‘cook with us’ session at Community House in South Kirkby. Young people in the area will have the chance to cook and eat ‘healthy pizzas’ with staff and friends whilst having an informal and open discussion about mental health.

Mental health issues affect one in four of us, and yet it’s still a subject so many are afraid to talk about. Having conversations about mental health helps break down the stigma surrounding it; it also helps us improve relationships with our loved ones.

There are lots of different ways to have a conversation about mental health so what’s stopping you? After all, you don’t have to be an expert to have a chat and a cuppa with someone close to you.
