Riverside Heights Wins Prestigious Construction Award

Our Riverside Heights housing with care scheme in Darwen has won a prestigious construction award in partnership with energy and regeneration specialist, ENGIE.

The scheme received the award for ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’ at the LABC North West Building Excellence Awards 2019, which recognises excellence in the delivery of outstanding construction and workmanship.

Completed in August 2018, the £14m Riverside Heights housing with care scheme was built for the over 50s in the Blackburn with Darwen area, for those with a need for extra care and support. The scheme includes 85 stylish self-contained apartments, with a range of additional facilities including a residents' lounge, restaurant, hair and beauty salon and secluded gardens.

Sue Lewis, Together Housing Group Head of Supported Housing, said: “With an ageing population and increasing pressure on health and social care services, housing with care schemes like Riverside Heights are hugely important. Riverside Heights offers the chance to continue living in your own home in a ready-made community with care and support close to hand. It has been carefully designed to welcome in the wider community too, and offers many added extras, all under one roof. We are absolutely delighted that the scheme has won the award. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved at Riverside Heights and it’s fantastic that the quality of the development has been recognised independently.”

Rob Ashcroft, Operations Manager at ENGIE, added:“Riverside Heights is a stand-out example of top-quality specialised housing with care for the elderly. The property provides high quality accommodation for tenants, whilst also offering dedicated care and support when needed, ensuring the older generation are able to enjoy life to the fullest whilst continuing to live independently. We’re thrilled to win such a well-known and prestigious industry award and it’s a huge testament to everyone involved - from planning and design, throughto the final construction of the project – it was a pleasure to work for and with all partners.”
