Mary Barret celebrates 100th birthday at Clement Court

Clement Court resident Mary Barret recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

100th Birthday

Mary moved to Clement Court, a Housing with Care scheme in Halifax, in 2017. She was born and raised in Rooley Lane, Sowerby Bridge, and spent most of her life living in the area. Mary attended St. Peters School and went on to work in a cotton mill, a dry cleaners, a cake shop and finally a Co-operative store.

During the Second World War, Mary worked in Wakefield managing land and growing vegetables. Today, Mary still loves to garden and, along with other residents, she loves to attend to the high planters in the conservatory for everyone to enjoy.

Since moving to Clement Court Mary has gotten involved with many activities. These hobbies include singing, dancing and knitting with other residents as part of the Clement Court knitting group.

Mary said: “I may not get to do my hobbies as often as I would like to anymore, but at Clement Court there is always the option and I love to get involved when I can!”

Happy 100th birthday Mary!
