What is the easiest way to pay your rent?

For many tenants, paying their rent by Direct Debit is the easiest and most convenient way to pay. If you receive a regular monthly income or monthly Universal Credit, paying your rent by Direct Debit might be right for you.

A Direct Debit is an automatic payment that is paid from your account on the same date each month. All you have to do is set up an agreed amount of money and choose the best date of the month for your payment. This will make sure you don’t get behind with your rent.

You’ll need a current account with a bank or building society that enables you to set up Direct Debits. You’ll also need to tell us your account details and complete a direct debit instruction telling your bank or building society that you agree to us collecting your rent from your account.

Paying your rent by Direct Debit could save you time and give you control over your cash flow. There are lots of other advantages too:

  • You only have to complete one form to set up the Direct Debit      instruction, or you can set up over the phone.
  • You don’t need to worry about missing rent payments as they are made automatically.
  • You can choose the payment date and how frequently payments are made – weekly, fortnightly or monthly, as long as payment is made before your rent due date.
  • You are covered by the Direct Debit guarantee against any errors made by us or your bank.
  • You can cancel the Direct Debit at any time.
