Barnsley development provides learning opportunities

DSC_0745Barnsley people wanting to work in construction can move a step closer to their dream, thanks to a training scheme offered by contractors working for Together Housing Group.

House builders in Darfield and Elsecar are offering a total of eight training places, which could lead to formal traineeship or apprenticeships further down the line.  The opportunities are made possible thanks to a clause in Together Housing Group contracts which mean their developers provide training to their residents and local people.

Hilary Brady, Group Head of Development at Together Housing Group, said there were many opportunities in construction: “These opportunities are open to people of any level, so they are a great way to explore whether you want to develop your skills for a career in construction.

“As a social housing association, Together Housing Group want to build more than affordable homes and opportunities like this mean we’re also helping build skilled communities.”

Opportunities are open to anyone, however some contractors and roles may have specific requirements due to health and safety.  Anyone who is interested in finding out more can call the Darfield developer, Partner Construction on 01388 813335 or can email or the Elsecar developer, DJ Atkinson Construction on 01246 850217 or by emailing
