Grounds and Estate Teams are working hard to maintain our services at this difficult time.
Staff are following the Government’s guidelines on social distancing. Our main priorities are to disinfect surfaces you might touch in communal areas, to keep bin stores clear and to ensure that bins are put out for collection.
Please help us to help you by not allowing your children to gather or play in any communal area. It is important that you observe social distancing with your neighbours and with our staff as they carry out their jobs.
- Will you continue to cut the grass?
Yes, from 4th May grass cutting restarts on a once a month basis. We suspended our fortnightly grass cutting because many of our staff work in teams, sharing vans and machinery, and this made it difficult to follow the Government’s rules on social distancing. We are now able to visit every site by providing a temporary monthly service with one person per van.
- Will communal cleaning services continue?
We have reduced our cleaning and caretaking services due to a reduced workforce. We are concentrating these services on critical sites: high rise blocks, supported housing and housing with care schemes. For all other schemes and blocks we have suspended our regular service but will attend if there are problems. Please contact Customer Services on 0300 555 5560 if you need to report a problem.
- What should I do if there’s rubbish in a communal area?
Please contact us if you find a communal area that needs clearing of rubbish. Residents can help us to keep communal areas clean and waste free by ensuring children do not use these areas for play and drop litter. We need residents’ help to dispose of waste correctly.
- Will tree services continue?
There are usually three in our tree team so we can’t do this and social distance. Currently, we are only responding to emergency tree issues where there is a risk to life or property. Our team will still be completing survey work as this only requires one person. If you need to report an issue, please contact our Customer Services team on 0300 555 5560.
- Can we still use playground areas?
To follow with Government guidelines our playground areas have been closed since March 23rd. Do not attempt to use these facilities until further notice.
- What will happen with service charges?
We understand that when services are reduced or stopped, it is natural to ask what rent refunds you will be entitled to. Once our services return to normal, we will know the extent of the disruption and the impact this has had as far as service charges are concerned. We will work to make necessary alterations to charges and communicate this to those affected.
- What should we do with rubbish if we think someone in our household might have the Coronavirus?
Personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths should be put securely in disposable rubbish bags. Each bag should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin. Other household waste can be disposed of as normal.
